How any so-called Labour MP cannot support the strikers is beyond me.
Yes the public sector probably enjoys overly generous pension schemes because historically they had lower pay than the private sector on a like-for-like basis.
So yes the public sector probably does need it's pension schemes reviewing. But not this way. The change should be that all NEW entrants from a certain date are placed on a 50/50 DB/DC scheme and further into a the future 100% DC.
Time, natural wastage (ie death) and the on-going privatisations of anything and everything will slowly achieve the government's aims.
Nothing suprises me my labour councilor for example states schools must open to allow parents to work, she suggests that parents who do not work should attend school to help the school stay open, labour changed from my day.
