Thousands of seriously ill cancer patients will be forced to take medical tests and face "back to work" interviews, despite assurances from ministers that they would not make it harder for the sick to get welfare, charities have warned.

Buried in a report to ministers by Prof Malcolm Harrington, the government adviser on testing welfare recipients, are proposals to force cancer patients who are undergoing intravenous chemotherapy to prove they are too ill to work.

At present, patients who are unable to work because of cancer and the side-effects of treatments are allowed to claim the highest rate of employment support allowance (ESA), worth up to £100 a week. More than 9,000 cancer patients were placed automatically on the welfare payment from October 2008 to June 2010. However, the expert report says this "automatic entitlement" has encouraged dependency on benefits, "encouraging wrong behaviours from employers and stigmatising cancer as something that can lead to unemployment or worklessness".

Instead, cancer patients on chemotherapy in hospitals will now have to prove that they are too sick to work, and take part in the controversial work capability assessment to determine whether someone is eligible for benefits. If cancer patients are found able to return to employment they may also be required to participate in work-related practice job interviews, as a condition of receiving their benefit.

Such assessments have been attacked by charities amid mounting evidence that people with serious illnesses are being judged fit for work when they are not.

Cancer experts and 30 cancer charities argue that patients undergoing "stressful" cancer treatment – and who have to leave work – should be automatically eligible for ESA. Ciarán Devane, chief executive of Macmillan Cancer Support, said: "Cancer patients in the middle of treatment are, in many cases, fighting for their lives.

"Yet the government is proposing to change the rules so all cancer patients will have to undergo a stressful assessment to prove they are unable to work.

"This shows a clear disregard and misunderstanding of what it's like to undergo punishing treatment. Patients who previously had peace of mind would face the stress and practical difficulties of getting assessed for work they are too poorly to do."

The new policy also reverses the government's own position on benefits that can be obtained by cancer patients. Iain Duncan Smith, the work and pensions secretary, earlier this year amended regulations concerning ESA so that even patients who were likely to receive chemotherapy within six months would be exempted from medical tests and face-to-face interviews and get benefits automatically.

This move allowed him to taunt Labour, claiming: "It was this government who exempted cancer patients on chemotherapy in hospitals; they were not exempted by the previous government. Our record on this is therefore quite good."

Labour called on the government to "listen very carefully" to its critics on the issue. The shadow work and pensions secretary, Liam Byrne, said: "This government is simply not thinking hard enough about the special circumstances of cancer sufferers in this country. People with obviously serious conditions don't need to be tested and retested – they should be allowed to get on with their treatment."

The government has already been forced on to the back foot over its changes to ESA, designed to save more than £1.2bn. In the summer, David Cameron refused to back down over plans to cut up to £94 a week from ESA, a move that could affect as many as 7,000 cancer patients. Devane said: "To make matters worse, the government is pressing ahead with proposed changes in the welfare reform bill that will make 7,000 cancer patients lose ESA after 12 months simply because they have not recovered quickly enough. We hope ministers will rethink these proposals.

"Cancer is the toughest fight many people will have to face; the government should not be making it tougher for them."

The ESA replaces a range of incapacity benefits. All fresh claimants now undergo a work capability assessment, and 1.5 million existing recipients will be reassessed using the new system from this month. The welfare reform bill introduces a one-year time limit on those people claiming ESA in the "work-related activity group", who are expected to move into work.

In an email, Harrington said: "Macmillan provided me with compelling evidence that different cancer treatments can have an equally – and varied – debilitating effect on individuals. However, I agree with the government that forcing people to a life on benefits when they want to work is wrong." The government said that patients would be allowed to prove they were too ill to work with "documentation", and would not always be asked to undergo a complete assessment.

A DWP spokesman said: "This must be about an individual's needs. Our proposals would ensure a person would only be asked to attend a face-to-face assessment where absolutely necessary."

I went down to my bank last week to take out a short term loan, I have had five loans in my life time each £1000 has been repaid on time no problems, they told me my rating had been dropped from an A to a D, I asked why? what's gone wrong, well your on benefits and you might lose them, might lose them, I asked what about if I was working he said well your income would be low we only lend now to people within an income of £30,000 and he said we use a firm now to check out your rating( experian), I said OK no problem I'll take my business to the COOP, after an hour I got the loan, only if I put my home on the line, god Almighty little wonder people are not spending.

I was given new medication for the stroke last month and I have been feeling so tired, one day I slept in total 48 hours, my wife failed to wake me up doctors called, hospital. It took four weeks to find out the dam medication was working against each other and sending me into this coma like sleep. Some will say thank god.

But it's taken me four weeks to get rid of this medication out of my system, this week I have only been sleeping nine hours during the day, my worry i was like this when I had my stroke so tired.

Thankfully that one is sorted out again.

Former Home Secretary Jacqui Smith has defended her use of two day-release prisoners to paint her £450,000 home when they should have been doing community work.

Prison bosses have now launched an investigation into how the pair, who were working for free as part of a back-to-work scheme and were meant to be improving parks and clearing up rubbish-strewn streams, instead ended up spending two days redecorating a room in Miss Smith’s house last month.
Speaking on an LBC radio programme, she was guest presenting, Miss Smith said she wanted 'to set the record a little bit straight' and insisted the prisoners 'didn't have anything else on'.
It also emerged that, as payment for the work, Miss Smith donated an unspecified amount to a local charity which organised the project, the Batchley Support Group

I'm told I need to get doctors letters of course £75, I will need to have a letter from all the consultants who will all tell everyone how serious fucked up my life is. cost well lets see £225 each were talking £1000.

Then I will need social services to tell these twats of so called ATOS doctors yes he is a risk yes he will cut his wrist, but he has some money to pay for a letter.

well sorry this ATOS doctor will need to work when he see's me no letters no medical documents, the DWP already has these they paid for them if they want them again they know where the doctors are.

I have not seen a specialist for six months and have no intention of going back to be told sorry no more we can do for you get on with life the best you can.

We are now told if your seen planting flowers in a garden or painting a fence from your wheelchair then your not bed bound, if you can drive a car I was told last month then you can drive a bus or a taxi, except of course the DVLA would need to give me back my full driving licence.

So what the fuck is going on are we saying now a person who cannot walk should not try or should not have a go are we saying sitting in a wheelchair gardening now means I can drive an HGV lorry.

So what is going on, I already get told by the Job center to check jobs at home do not come to the job center because we are to busy, if I check the computer where is the help which was promised, if they mean by help a snotty eighteen year old who will not shake your hands because you have something and might pass it on.

HIS name was Major Brownlow Stuart and, as he faced what he regarded as a rebellious mob, he called up five marksmen. The order was barked: “Fire.” Two men died, two others fell, wounded. And so began a night of terror.

It happened 100 years ago this month, but this was not some colonial outpost being brought to heel. This was a street in a Welsh town.

It began when striking railwaymen halted a train from London as it approached Llanelli. They boarded it and put out its fire but were soon forced off by soldiers of the Worcestershire Regiment. They gathered above the railway line and bombarded the soldiers with stones and missiles.

That is what triggered Major Brownlow Stuart’s act of idiocy.

August 1911, when not only our own patch but half the country seemed in a state approaching revolution. A nationwide strike of stevedores, railwaymen and other transport workers protesting at pitifully low wages was bringing Britain to a standstill.

As food ran out there were even fears of famine in some major cities. Fifty thousand troops were sent into London where 200,000 demonstrators had taken to the streets of the city. As massive riots rocked Liverpool, with two men shot dead by soldiers, three warships steamed up the Mersey to protect merchant ships and the great transatlantic liners docked there. Cardiff was recovering from the violence surrounding the seamen’s strike – now it was Llanelli’s turn.

We heard the phrase often during the terrifying race riots in the US during the 1960s and here, that August, we suffered through a truly unforgiving long hot summer. Temperatures reached 100 degrees – in the shade – and, unbelievably to us a century on, the unrelenting heat killed 2,500 children, with London declared the second most unhealthy city in the world, the Thames as foul as the Ganges, disease sweeping through the slums.

On August 15, 40,000 railwaymen, protesting at low pay and long hours, stopped work. Llanelli’s men came out two days later and were joined by men from other industries. They closed the gates at two level crossings, allowing only the mail train through, and almost immediately troops, evidently well prepared, were rushed to the town to reinforce the police.

That is where we came in, that is when the battle began. A local magistrate read the Riot Act but he was ignored, so Major Brownlow Stuart gave his order. Tinplate worker John John, a celebrated local rugby player just 21, and a 19-year-old died. (An inquest would return a verdict of justifiable homicide.)

The deaths signalled the start of rioting and looting that lasted through the night. A wagon at a railway shed was set alight. It was full of explosives, the resulting blast killed two men instantly, three others died in hospital. The troops moved in at midnight and cleared the streets. The strike ended – but there was no respite for South Wales.

As calm came to Llanelli, hundreds of young men rampaged through Tredegar, looting shops owned by the town’s businessmen, inspiring similar attacks in 10 more Monmouthshire mining towns. Since most of the shops were owned by Jews some said that these were the first anti-Jewish riots for 200 years. But these claims were demolished by Prof SWD Rubinstein, a specialist in Jewish history.

He pointed out that non-Jewish shops were also attacked for economic, not racist, reasons by a working class that felt exploited by shopkeepers and landlords.

I asked how many people are now in work after labour and the Tories back to work, she said no records yet, it will take a few years, I said how many people are now getting IB and ESA, she said no records at the moment. So I said come on you must know a rough guide.

people claiming benefits for sickness and disability now stands at 2.6 million as from July this year.

But hold on hundreds of millions have been spent and yet disability welfare is going up from 2.4 million to 2.6 million, we are told 90% of people are refused benefits because they are scroungers, yet right now welfare is going up.

I'm not a racist well not yet, but could the government like labour in 1997 who knew they were going to do a bit of social engineering by an open door immigration, know that a lot of people who would end up here would in fact end up on welfare, immigrants cannot get welfare, oh yes they can if they come from the EU, or they come here to people who are already here.

What is the difference between Labour and the Tories, not a lot really I see Progress is all over it's self telling us getting the workless and worthless back to work is a great idea, and paying job providers to do it well if it works it will be a great idea, they are backing the Tories in this.

I have just come back from my job center, no disability advisors today they have been moved to the job provider, but she's gone off ill again.

But one look at the computer and you find why we still have 16,000 people sitting at home in my area, being wasters, six jobs all six are paying commission only not a single real job.

So how much do we pay the job providers for sitting on their backsides, mine is the Shaw Trust, if it works as hard as it did before god help us all.

We are told Mr Miliband will decide to go with our beloved Caroline Flint or her idea's of only giving council houses to people in jobs, and also to people who are doing a specialized job like teacher doctor nurse.

Forgive me for being stupid, I live right next to a council estate where the poorest are trying to get out of, they move to a dogs home then spend a life on this estate, I would not think a nurse doctor or teacher would want to come here if the rent was free. does anyone really think these people will want to live on a sink hole estate I know I did not

So a school teacher on £35,000 cannot afford a mortgage and a person who lets say has a disability would have to move to the private sector, or back to the 1900 into shit poverty housing.

To be in the TA's or not

So we are told today that the Tories will reduce the Military by 19,000 but increase the TA's, I suspect some form of extra payments or other means of getting the TA's up to strength. But it's the wrong way to go, the front line troops should always be the best trained with the TA's filling in when needed, they should not be front line fodder. I suspect the Tories have plans to ensure no more battles or wars for a while, it costs to much, god help us if the Falklands are attacked again, I suspect both Labour and the Tories would sell it off.

So whom will be sacked, I suspect all those with disabilities all those with problems will go, and then will be those coming to the end of time, officers who's air fields or navy yards, which will close, commanders of ships which are taken out of service unless your one of those with the right name, or contacts.

Cheats warned of benefit fraud blitz

Benefit cheats are being warned today that a new Mobile Regional Taskforce to combat fraud will be visiting their area. This new team will target all high risk postcodes across the country re-examining claims for benefits and Tax Credits.

The Taskforce is the latest crack-down on benefit fraud by the Department for Work and Pensions and HMRC alongside local authorities, and cheats are being urged to admit their crimes and pay back the money before they get a knock on the door.

Lord Freud, Minister for Welfare Reform said:

"The new Taskforce is our latest weapon in tackling welfare fraud on the front line. We are sending a clear warning that if you are fiddling the system, you will be caught. Welfare fraud is a crime and takes money away from the most vulnerable.

"People who are receiving the correct benefits and Tax Credits have absolutely nothing to fear. But if people have deliberately not told us of a change in circumstances, they should do so now, before the team comes knocking at their door.

"Alongside the Taskforce we are bringing in the Universal Credit which will simplify and automate the benefits system. This will make it much easier to catch people who make false claims."

People who tell the Department about a change in their circumstances before they are found out by the Taskforce will have to repay the money they owe, and, depending on the seriousness of their action, may face an additional punishment. Anyone who doesn’t take this opportunity and is found by the Taskforce to be committing welfare fraud could be prosecuted and fined or imprisoned.

David Gauke MP, Exchequer Secretary to the Treasury said:

"This government will not tolerate money which is meant for those in genuine need being siphoned off into the pockets of cheats and fraudsters.

"The new taskforce delivers on our commitment to tackle benefit fraud and together with the extra £917 million we have re-invested in HMRC sends a very clear message."

This new measure is set out alongside other measures in the fraud and error strategy announced at the end of last year by DWP and HMRC that will reduce annual welfare fraud and error overpayments by one quarter (£1.4 billion) by March 2015 through:
Launching a single fraud investigation service
Accessing more data and using private sector analytical techniques
Increased asset seizure
A new tougher one-strike, two-strike and three-strike rules, including three years for people with multiple convictions
Money owed deducted directly through PAYE
Case-cleaning over 1 million claims to remove official or customer error

Universal Credit, which will replace income-related support from 2013, will simplify the benefit system making it even harder for fraud and error to enter and making the benefit system far easier to administer.

The Mobile Regional Taskforce will scrutinise the claims of a high proportion of current benefit customers within a specific geographical location, regardless of age, gender, ethnic make-up, type of benefit recipient, income, disability breakdown or family status.
The Taskforce will begin in Birmingham’s B44 postcode area on 25th July 2011. A full roll out across the country will commence in the autumn.

In October 2010 the Cabinet Office established the Counter Fraud Taskforce, which is chaired by Francis Maude, Minister for the Cabinet Office. It is made up of senior officials from government and private sector with expertise in tackling fraud, error and debt. Officials from the National Fraud Authority (an Executive Agency of the Home Office) provide the secretariat to the taskforce.

This Taskforce has overseen eight pilots in different Government departments using the latest technology to tackle fraud in the public sector. Some of these have made immediate savings:
HMRC: £256 million over 4 years by using data analytical techniques to screen tax credit applications before payments are made
HMRC: £750 million over 2 years using credit reference agency data to detect undisclosed partners
DWP: £490 million over 4 years using credit reference agency data to detect undisclosed partners
HMG: £264 million on payments to suppliers made in 2009/10, using analytical techniques to detect overpayments through fraud or error. DfT pilot saved £0.5m and the Home office saved £4m using these techniques.

It looks like people are getting ready to test this little change in the courts, but as yet nothing has been decided.

I see people are angry that the Tories are saying we need to sort this one out, too many disabled people are getting extra money. But in fact if you look at the lowest rates of DLA you get I believe it's £17.50 this could be due to having say a bad leg , or a bad knee say with Arthritis.

But for my wife who applied for DLA for having spina bifida she was turned down flat, she had to apply a number of times before a doctor said OK you can have the lowest amount, yet I know people who are seriously disabled who are turned down point blank, is it the system, poor doctors, or doctors who do not give a shit.

We had a TV program in Wales about one such doctor who saw numerous people some with such serious disabilities and yet he turned down everyone, nobody got a pass.

Another doctor who was seen by another, the doctor spoke no English how the hell did he get a job, this doctor asked one customer we are customers, that if he had come from this doctors country then he would have to beg, the reply was well lucky I do not come from your country then.

My worry like always this is about cutting benefits again to repay the debts of the bankers, seems the disabled and the sick will be repaying a lot.

But lucky the Tories are going to look at it, Brown did not wish to look at it just stop it.

A soft drink, well I think myself you should be looking at making a lot of labour politicians drink the stuff lots of it, to get some iron in your spines. We are told Scotland is to take charge of it's MSP, it's MP's and it councilors, not a bad idea for Scotland. I think we are already seeing the splintering of labour into a factional party, but of course if that wins Miliband and his tribe the leadership heck why not.

We are told Labour in England will go ahead looking to get funding from out side of the Unions, yes but we will not break with the Unions, no I bet, not not while they pay your dam wages mate.

We are told Labour England is to chase it's middle class vote, while Scotland since the SNP is more socialist, I suspect labour will chase the rich middle class Tory vote.

Sue Slipman, the director of the Foundation Trust Network, said it was right to lift the cap. Slipman told MPs: "Depending upon the range of patient choices, it isn't necessarily the case that there would be fewer NHS patients if you expand the facilities as a result of the money you can [raise]. It depends where you invest that money.

"The term 'private patient cap' is a misnomer. This is all money that can be brought into the system as a result of any service which may derive from private patients. So, for example, if you run laundry in your hospital and any of that laundry is used by those who supply services to private patients, this counts against the cap. We believe that the lifting of the private patient cap would enable public providers to being more money into the NHS to benefit NHS patients."

The BMA membership rejected leader Dr Hamish Meldrum's attempts to reassure them that key elements of the bill should not damage the NHS.

Their motion said there was still anxiety about:

• The role of the NHS regulator Monitor. They fear it will still promote competition between hospitals, even though Meldrum insisted that "competition has gone" as Monitor's main duty as a result of changes following the NHS Future Forum.

For several years, the flag-draped coffins of fallen servicemen and women have been met by large crowds who line the streets to pay their respects as they return to British soil.

But repatriation flights are to be diverted and will no longer be flown back to RAF Lyneham and through the small Wiltshire town of Royal Wootton Bassett, where they were saluted come rain or shine.

Instead, they will arrive back to RAF Brize Norton, where they will be driven through the back gate and then down side roads, neatly avoiding the nearby town of Carterton, as they make their way to the John Radcliffe Hospital in Oxford.

Andrew Robathan, Minister for Defence Personnel, Welfare and Veterans, admitted that the decision to avoid public scenes of emotion had been taken deliberately.

“The side gate was seen by the Ministry of Defence and the police as the most appropriate way to take out future corteges,”

Refounding labour or just floundering

So the big meeting in Wrexham lots of big words to the socialist Welsh labour party, must have stuck in Miliband throat. Then we had the normal sell off of what was wrong with Labour but hello we did get somethings right.

Like well School building program, yes but was it correct to build them using PFI.

Then Hospital building OK yes but was it right to flog them off to private firms and again PFI.

Then we have Jobs millions given jobs, but of course were these job real, labour them selves stated they had to reduce the amount of people working in the public sector, Brown him self stated he wanted 300,000 jobs to go. So how many jobs did Labour make in my small Welsh town, not a lot really, he closed the benefits office, he closed the tax office and he closed our DWP, so he closed more then he actually made.

Then of course we had the sorry of those poor people who have cancer, he then spoiled his attempt to make the Tories look bad by saying some of these people worked hard and paid into the pot, well so what about the children who are born with cancer or the youths who get cancer before working are these people out side of society, what about people given Blood transfusions now have Aids, what about people who have contracted HIV, or are they naughty for having sex. God help the poor old drug addicts under Newer labour your to blame for everything.

But the fact is those poor cancer suffers who worked so hard paid into the pots are only going through the new medicals because of Labour. I quote Mr Blair people must have medicals to ensure they are suffering and are not just work shy, well I suspect people with Cancer broken backs spinal injuries HIV AIDS and the many many more mental health issues , soldiers with out legs without arms are all so called work shy because they have had their bloody arms and legs blown off.

This is not refounding labour it's a party floundering to find a reason to be.

But of course you will need eleven players, I suspect eight or even eleven will be English one from Ireland one from Scotland and One from Wales well they have to have subs. Rumour doing the rounds it will be the under twenty one squad, which should mean a short playing period.

Then we will have the highlight of watching FIFA repay the arguments over bribery by stating England has proved beyond doubt that we have one national team called GB which of course will be Run by the English FA, how many players from out side of England, not to long ago England said any player who had been in the UK for ten years who has not played for any other national team could be eligible for England.

I watched Ed Miliband to day PMQ's according to labour list of course Ed won the tiff hands down 100 points, but actually he did not, once he brought out the silly DNA Data base idea, he was on a loser I can see people all over the country thinking yes it's newer labour. Blair's idea, Blair's plan put in place by a new labour Eddie the eagle Miliband.

labour it looks to me has nothing to offer ordinary working people, the silly idea that getting a DNA swab from a lady who says she was raped would not prove rape, all it proves is sex has taken place, it would again come down to the same battle she said no he would say she said yes.

But whom wants to be on a register of DNA so insurance companies could carry out a review of your insurance risk because your DNA state you might die of a heart attack or cancer.

Tory back Bencher who has a habit of silly comments state the disabled should be allowed to opt out of the min wage, labour See's red, well nice to see anything red in labour these days.

Mr Davies the chap who said he cannot see the problem with people darkening up their faces, has come up with a few ripe replies.

But is he wrong, the new WCA is now placing more disabled people onto JSA job seekers which is of course £67 a week, not enough to live on, so why should a disabled person not sell his labour for say £4 an hour, work for six months and then get paid if they can do the job the full wage.

Disabled people like myself are not getting jobs because when we go for work a dozen other people many fit and healthy apply as well and to be honest why would an employer employ me.

Well labour stated I must sell my self do not look down look up look forward, easy to say when your sitting in a wheelchair, and the company wants a person to fill shelves and they say to you can you fill the top shelf and you say nope.

Or can you climb a ladder, or can you walk a mile can you drive a car, yes but only if you put in hand controls that cost £10,000.

In most countries laws are in place that companies who employ twenty or more employee's must employ two or three disabled people but not here, I have to prove to everyone I can do the job, and the simple fact I cannot fill shelves, I cannot pick up litter and I cannot write a letter faster then a full trained person.

So my only thing left is to let me or allow me to sell myself on the market. Because living on £67 a week JSA is not something I want...or of course make a real medical test for the disabled not this shame we have now.

I was talking to this gent by me who is getting on a bit now, he has a disability from a mine accident a long time ago which took his leg off. I said my grand father lost his legs when a pit prop broke, he said same thing.

I said about how labour was changing and had changed under Kinnock and then Blair, and he said to me labour was not the party people think it is. He said I can go way back before the war, he said even after the war people make out labour to be this socialist party sent to help the people, he said well it never helped me much.

Got me remembering the days at Aberfan, I was in the valleys that day, and saw the Miners rushing over the mountains to get to the school. I was thinking about Wilson who has just won an election and the ex MP Robens who was with the NCB, who did not arrive at the village a day late. He then demanded the charity money be used to clear up the mess including the waste tips the slag heaps, when Wilson stated the money would come from the NCB this gent stated it would not and he demanded that the charity money be used, and it was. OK Blair returned the money many years later but it does I suspect show how we think labour was some how socialist.

I remember the fighting between the Tories and labour over DLA for the disabled and how labour felt it was money wasted.

I see Miliband now is carrying on his idea telling us a story about a chap he knows who's disabled, Miliband stated i believe he was able to work, he believed, what happens if that chap had terminal cancer, or if he has something else wrong with him is Mr Miliband a doctor now, or is it like many in labour who surmise what they think is going on.

Miliband speech we are told will be about getting council housing for the middle class, the nurses the police officers you know the important middle class earners who would not be seen dead in council houses around me, the sick the disabled those on JSA well where do they go now, interment camps, tents, kicked out.

I'm not sure where the hell labour is going hopefully out of power for the rest of my life thats for sure.

But Miliband is seeking that niche, the NHS he has lost as the Tories do a U turn, so labour has to find another method of getting those people who now would vote UKIP/ Tory rather then labour.

Pretty shock if the releases of his speech is right, upper class, middle class lower class, and untouchables.

But if the past 13 years how many jobs did labour make in the private sector which can be classed as real jobs, I know they produced a hell of a lot of non jobs in the public sector. how do we get people back to work in my area people are not turning up to chase a job because they have ten jobs and 14,000 people looking for them, last week i was down at my job center seeking to find work, as cripples do, to be told they had 9 positions.

No it does not but the site Labour matters has just given me the accolade of being banned for attacking Tony Blair for not being a socialist and not being able to see past my hate of the party.

This is because I tried to argue Tony Blair book is a load of crap written to try and make his third way look as if it worked.

I mean he was on TV this week to talk about his New Book and was really annoyed to be asked was he sorry about the war in Iraq, was he really right to go to war.

The problem for Blair now of course his third way blew up and in part was due to Labour being out of power, he did not have the guts to sack Brown, and did not have the guts to stay and fight another election, deals done in back rooms tend to back fire when the other person you did the deal with is an idiot.

We are now looking back at Labour spell in power watching Miliband squirm because everything he and the new labour lot agreed with is being put in place by the Tories, and all labour have letf is to argue for the NHS.

Problem is the country has changed many more people have private insurance and to be honest it's only the people at the bottom of the pile who are really worried over the NHS, but not really enough to fight for it.

Why not because we had thirteen years of labour privatization, and the MRSA epidemic.

Milibands lot right now are unable to say to much because he agrees in principle with the cuts being carried out by the Tories, he agrees with the welfare reforms, but has doubts about the rents, he also came out meekly about the cuts for the elderly only because the Grey vote normally would be seen as a labour vote.

What a mess for a party as the Revelation come out about the back stabbing of Blair, myself I would have stabbed him face to face, but thats not politics is it.

New Think tank for the left

GEER which I'm told will place the left in the center of labour thinking, it will highlight the gender problems of not enough women in politics, of race, not enough people from Minorities, it will state race gender and religion.

I spent a while reading through it and something hit me, it's more like something from the Blue labour, nothing at all about Welfare, the disabled will soon be asked or told to have their National insurance number tattooed onto their arms, and maybe wear a nice picture of a wheelchair on our shirts jumpers or jackets and report to a police station once a week.

This new think tank looks a lot like many of Labours blogs people who are looking to catch the parties eye to end up being asked to come on board a nice jobs as a adviser, or can you stand in a nice safe seat for us.

I was reading a bit about how labour see the next secretaries task once he or she well he takes over, first job will be according to the so called left will be to ensure donations pour in from people so labour can stop taking from the Unions, of course what that means is the new person must push like hell to get state funding.

The Government have a massive programme to reassess more than 1.5 million people on incapacity benefit by 2013 to see whether they qualify for employment and support allowance. However, the assessment process is deeply flawed. Forty per cent of appeals are successful, and there is widespread dissatisfaction with Atos Healthcare, the company carrying out the assessments. There are also serious concerns with the way that the process is being handled. The descriptors in the work capability assessment have been repeatedly revised over recent years so as to raise the bar for claimants. Further changes are now being rushed through before Professor Harrington has concluded the all-important second stage of his review, against the advice of the Social Security Advisory Committee. In particular, the committee felt that the work capability assessment measured theoretical work capability and took insufficient account of the realities of the work environment and the labour market, which has not enabled significant numbers to move into employment, even in relatively favourable pre-recession conditions. Some 92 per cent of employers say that they would find it difficult or impossible to employ someone who is blind or partially sighted, for instance. Now we learn that increasing numbers of disabled people are experiencing rigorous reassessments of their access-to-work support packages, which is hardly going to ameliorate the situation.

Even if you qualify for ESA—employment and support allowance—you may be no better off, because anyone receiving contributory ESA from next April who is in the work-related activity group will have payment of their benefit means tested after 12 months. This change is to be made retrospective. People will still be able to apply for income-related ESA after their contributory ESA ends, but if their partner is earning as little as £150 or working 24 hours or more a week, they will no longer be eligible for ESA. These are particularly savage policies going far beyond anything contemplated in the Thatcher era. They will cause great hardship and have a devastating effect on the lives of hundreds of thousands of disabled people. It is estimated that by 2015-16, 700,000 people will be affected by limiting contributory ESA to one year: 203,000 will lose on average £11 a week; 217,000 will lose £22 a week; and 280,000, a good 40 per cent, will lose as much as £89 a week. To people forced to live on benefit, these figures are mind-boggling.

Some very good speeches today and some total rubbish, especially from Lord Sawyer about Remploy helping people. I have yet to see a Job Provider who employs disabled people, or in fact employ older people, the Shaw Trust and Remploy have for sometime employed people on the grounds of paying the min of the min wage in other words they pay people the youth rate of the min wage, what you get then are people who have no idea of the real world. I get fed up going to see a New Job provider and I can tell word for word what they will say.

I'm not disabled myself, but I know somebody who is, thats nice.

The fact is at the moment jobs are short and when jobs are sort employers are looking for the best, they do not want some dribbling retard to do the jobs a Polish worker can do ten times better, and yes I do dribble.

The fact is I have seen some people tell me that I should have been put down at birth, but I was fine at birth I had my accident when I was thirty nine.

It's been an eye opener to listen to the Tories in the house of Lords talk about the welfare reforms and listen to the New labour brigade.

Not a lot has changed in Wales, Labour I suspect will go into a coalition with the Liberals, may as well they messed up in England perhaps labour can help them in Wales, but will the Liberals fall for it.

I was talking about welfare reforms to a councilor at the polling station, ah yes he said I've not noticed to many disabled people, I asked how can you tell if they are disabled, oh he said thinking they drive new cars. Well thats it then if you drive a new car in Wales your disabled.

My friend who has been disabled all his life has been told his contract at a retail Unit will not be renewed this year, he has been working at the place for five years, but he only gets a one year contract.

Then another friend told me he has been laid off as well, he said they had told him they were getting rid of non essential jobs, which is like telling somebody your a waste of time and we are getting rid of you.

Then I hear that a person who works for the council is being let go, as they try to save money now get this, she was told they had to do this to try and keep essential people. Nothing like knowing your getting the sack because your non essential.

I cannot wait to see where the hell I will be going to find work.

I'm parplegic but that means nothing these days, nothing at all.

Rising from sitting and transferring from one seated position to another:
Cannot complete both of the following—

(a) rise to standing from sitting in an upright chair without receiving physical assistance from someone else; and

(b) move between one seated position and another seated position located next to one another without receiving physical assistance from someone else

If a claimant can do either one of these activities they are not eligible for the Support Group.
Again, this descriptor reflects a severe restriction of lower and upper limb function. Again, the claimant who has quadriplegia may fulfil these requirements. A claimant with paraplegia who has reasonable upper limb function may not fall into this support group as they may have good ability to independently transfer from one seat to another.
Information must be obtained at the pre-board check to confirm details of their disability and likelihood of restriction of both the rising and transferring activities. (See section 3.3 for further details of assessment at the LCW/LCWRA medical examination of this type of activity).

I took a long hard look I have been voting since 1967 elections, Assembly elections, Unions, you name it I've voted at it.

In 2005 I left the Labour party I've supported them from the age of twelve, but after new labour and Blair articles about work shy scroungers within Disability it was time to go.

So whom do I vote for today, Labour in Wales we are told is not labour England, it's easy to say, I cannot in all honesty believe that, they might well sound more left, but I think that has more to do with the coalition. Would Labour back the welfare reforms put in place by the Tories, according to Miliband yes he would, so that's it I will not be voting labour.

I cannot even be bothered about the Tories the hit on the working class, disabled, sick and poor, it's to cut no other reason.

Liberals well they sold out did not even bother taking any of the baggage with them, one minute they are fighting against welfare reforms the next Clegg is telling us they cannot afford it, I cannot be bothered with the Liberals the old Whig beliefs have shown them selves again.

For me right now, I'm leaning toward the local party or independents, they will never control the country and to be honest they make a rubbish job of my council, but they did say welfare reforms was wrong.

But boy it's getting hard to find a reason to vote these days.

FATHER of five crippled with chronic arthritis, heart disease and gout was told he was fit enough to work as part of a review of disability benefit claimants.

Said Rohamed, aged 64, was forced to give up work at the GKN Hardy Spicer factory in Erdington 15 years ago due to his arthritis.

He has been claiming Disabled Living Allowances (DLA) for care and mobility, currently worth about £400 a month, ever since.

The divorced father, who has three grown-up sons and two daughters, has also suffered a heart attack, survived prostrate cancer and has asthma.

But, following a 20-minute interview with a Department for Work and Pensions doctor, his DLA was stopped because he was deemed fit enough to work.

The decision also meant that Mr Rohamed, who lives alone in a flat in Bridley Drive in Birmingham city centre, would have to give up his mobility scooter

I have had to listen to a number of parties speaking at my door or in Town, I tend to walk way but to listen to labour tell us that tuitions fee's are a disgrace is interesting, who brought in tuition fee's yes labour.

We are told the sale and the sell off of the NHS will be fought, yet in my small town you can pop in see a doctor pay your £35 be seen get treatments, where as my own GP the appointment can take a month, your seen for twelve minutes and told if you have not finished to make another appointment which takes another month.

To get my blood pressure done, I was informed it would be better if I had it done at a chemist and the phone the results through saving the GP time and pressure.

Go to see a dentist not in my area we still do not have any, and thats all down to labour.

Education we are told labour has done more for education then anyone else, they why is it children are still leaving school unable to read and write.

The Tories are no better thats true, but the difference in ideology between labour and the Tories are now much closer together.

Tomorrow is voting day and I'm not to sure to even bother voting.

I have been advised by the job center to wait until the new job providers are sorted then I will be seen and sorted.

It's been hell of a year, a small lump on my arm started itching and I though get some cream, the chemist said he did not like it, popped into the doctor who wrote to the hospital, my GP phones up says you need to be seen fast pronto, best go private, £150 quid cheap as chips, skin cancer.

It did not look like anything, I mean working in the building trade I was always getting my arms sun tanned never burned, doctor stated god your Lucky a few more months and it would be a different story. How much more bad luck can I have for god sake.

Then my father in law goes to hospital ,who say he is OK do not worry, he dies.

I sit at home thinking hell what next, when I get a call you will soon get your letter from the DWP for your ESA medical.

This is going nowhere, my job center refuses to even see me now, because well they are so busy.

On three occasions I went down, and was told by the security to come back after Christmas, whats the use of telling the disabled your not doing enough, if you cannot get the help, this dam government promised.

So they said come back about April 2010, but they did say you can look without using the job center. nice to know.

I think I'll start talking about my new community work, except I've been told that they are going to offer this to young people leaving school, so they can get this put on the CV.

Well my Job center is not seeing cripples now, we are being told to stay away while they help the poor old people out of work, they are not use to using the computers so my advisers is busy looking for her lap top, so she can look to see if any new jobs have popped up.

I've asked if I can have a list of employers who might be able to help me find work, she said the Shaw trust are the dedicated team on the governments list, but they are demanding more help because employers are not helping them, which is not surprising really.

We even have lady Scotland employing illegals now to clean their homes, funny how my wife who has Spina bifida had to work eight hours a day, run a home, deal with two kids and work, we could not afford somebody to clean our homes but of course she is now in the house of Lords, which does not pay much so she needed some I suspect cheap labour.

Boy what a life, just getting over what my doctor said was the flu, I asked swine flu, he said it might be I've no idea, he said if we give you a test you will get the same treatment, so I had the treatment, my grandsons got it now.

It's been a long hard year, with hospital treatment, going to the job center, looking for work, getting into an argument with me MP over whether I'll be coming back to the Labour party.

And should I care a dam, I decided life is to short, and I intend going on one holiday in my life time, I'm going to go to a warm country and spend a week laying on a beach getting tanned eating ice cream and swimming in the warm sea. if I live that long of course.

Well great first week of school holidays total wash out massive rain floods and bloody swine flu.

Go to the cinema to see Harry Potter it's empty and I mean empty.

I asked is the film that bad and she says nope swine flu people are not going, we come out 9.45 every dam pub is full the clubs are heaving, one young lady no more then 18 laying in the middle of the road waving her knickers in the air, Tits hanging out screaming give me sex (not the words she used). The police pick her up throw her in the back of the van ,the boy friends argues with the Police to leave her go, and spews up on the road and over a police officer.

Taxi arrives he says sorry about the smell I just cleaned it up, two people in the back one messed her self, it's a Bloody Wednesday not the weekend for god sake.

OK I'd will be the first to say if we go to war then troops are going to die, but if they die because the government has not given the lads the right equipment then sadly who ever is in charge be they minister MP or PM, courts should place these people against a wall and shoot.

We are told to day that we do not have enough helicopters so equipment is being taken to the front line by trucks, lorries.

This cannot be right and if we have no helicopters then buy them borrow them or bloody steal them but get them. One lad that dies because we do not have the right equipment is the biggest shame on any government.

Well I think looking for work has to be put on hold, I've been told I will not be asked back until the recessions has lifted, because simple put they are out to find work for the unemployed.

So I will blog about everything any anything. One minute we are being pushed into Jobs that are at best stupid, window cleaning from a wheelchair the young Lady who suggested I can be used to get work because people would feel sorry for me. Another idea! I would get a grant to become a Taxi driver self employed , Labours new push now is getting us to go self employed.

Done it, did not like it, and will not be doing it again, last year I had a benefits review and if I was to start work I would be £25 a week worse off unless I worked a full week..

So what shall I talk about on a blog I had hoped would show how much work we put into looking for work, sadly we are still sending off application forms, sending emails, we have formed a group in which we can help each other.

So why can I not find work, well for some time now the area in which the disabled were sent to work has been the NHS, now you must be able to beat the non disabled to the job by showing you can actually do it. Second they are looking for well educated people who can be trained to fit into the jobs and actually work at it. But the fact is how many disabled nurses in wheelchairs do you see, if a nurse gets a bad back she is normally gone she retires.

How many Police officers do you see in wheelchairs soldiers traffic wardens, not many I bet, so what are the job for the disabled, well in the main it's picking up litter, sitting in a wheelchair in Asda calling out the cheap deals, or standing or sitting in the back ground doing little or nothing worth talking about.

I went for a job and nearly got in at a well known large building suppliers, they wanted somebody to tell people about buildings, being a building foreman for many years it suited me. They asked me questions about footing, regulations for knocking down a partion wall, about knocking down a main holding wall, I answered the lot, was told ok you have the job, only to be told two hours before starting they found somebody better. I later found out they had employed a Polish lad who could not speak English, it was felt he would fit in better, since people might feel uncomfortable speaking to somebody in a wheelchair.

I get this a lot.

This blog was to be about me finding work, problem is the job center has given up. I've been told to come back In September now because they are snowed under with people looking for work. Makes you smile really they are treating the disabled different from non disabled I'm being treated like due to my disability I can wait.

I've been waiting now since the end of November last year for an interview and will more then likely wait until they call me in next year.

I've been feeling unwell for a while now tired and feeling like something is wrong, off to the GP straight in. had a look he said he is not happy he can feel a lump in my bowel, so first thing blood test, down to the Hospital it took four hours to have the test.

Well our beloved Harriet said that MP's 9Gordon) can have maintenance done on his house which is spending £6000 on his brother cleaning his home, Harriet has said that's within the rules, so getting a family member into your home to clean it it's called according to Harriet maintenance. In my home it's called doing the house work.

OK well writing about the Job centers no good, being told to wait until July well it's a bit to long, I did go down and join another job broker, but the job broker said they have to wait to see what funding it would get from Government, they said the funding they did have was gone.

So what to write about well how about electric cars, I had a poster sent to me about looking at electric cars, it said new money would be put into green cars a two seater vehicle, so I had a look it has two seats and it has a boot my wheelchair would not fit into, they said the battery could be charged in two hours, but really needed 24 hours and it does 40 miles with a top speed of 40 mph. I was told the speed could be increased but the mileage goes down.

But looking at these cars the though of Clive Sinclair came to mind silly looking vehicles which will be bought for the kids and left to rot, ok these cars are a little bigger but two seaters for god sake, we are told you can by a car for the family but you can buy one of these for a run about, ok ok I'll buy one, nope sorry 2011 or perhaps 2012, so why is Brown offering us £5,000 well it's for buying a hybrid. Hold on a minute they go on fuel as well my uncle has one so far he has only put in petrol.

Anyone feel this is another bit of bull shit from new labour.

Seems my blogging has come to an end for jobs anyway, my job center now refuses to see anyone with a disability and they pull out all the stops to get the unemployed back into work. Seems all those employers now have a choice, Polish workers, or unemployed workers, the disabled are just getting in the way. But the new medicals are on going.

I saw a report yesterday about the new voice analyzers being used by the DWP, being bought by the government from a company which started in Israel, funny really how we look around the world to try and stop fraud . The report states these do not work they are too simple and do not take into account the stress from actually phoning what was once known as the DHSS or the Nazi squad.

It does not take into account how people who are disabled with an illness or an accident or being just pissed off with the wife who is asking for a divorce can be. But still it makes a company and owner in Israel a lot of money.

I've been back down to my job center went up to the computers pulled myself out of the wheelchair to try and use the stupid things, but they are to high for a wheelchair user. So I was asked if I needed help, and I said yes please, the chap went away came back and said you have to make an appointment.

Then that night I hear Labour saying they have spent billions putting in place help for the unemployed, yes but by appointment only.

The job center had a lot of people sitting talking chatting and moaning , so I asked whats the matter a women then said she had applied for benefits to be told because she has a slight disability, she was told that sickness benefits is her way forward, she said but I'm not really disabled, to be told yes but you are disabled.

Anyone think we are back at the Thatcher and Blair years of hiding unemployment by using sickness, this is the third time I've heard people say they have been told to see a doctor.

here we go again.

It has taken me a year to find out why my Job Center has told me or keeps telling me to come back later, I've been told now to come back in July , and I tried to find out what happens in July will we have more jobs.

Now I know a private company is taking over my job center , so why should anyone be interested in helping me when they think they might be out of a job. The new company will be paid by results they must find people jobs, I cannot wait to find out what they think I can do.

Last year my job center felt window cleaning was a great idea and taxi driving, of course to alter a car for me to drive would cost a taxi company about £20,000 that's how much it costs me.

So last year they suggested I try doing a course which I did and had to pay my share of the costs of £350 once the course was over I was told it would help me find work, the course was making tea and coffee in the work place, health and safety and how to talk to disabled people.

But I wonder what this new firm is going to do to get me back to work lets see yes open camps in which the end result is a lot of dead people gassed.

I watched a program this morning about a lady with a disability going to New Zealand, and I thought that's odd they turned me down three years ago, for being a burden on their health care, so I though it must have changed so I took a look and guess what! the BBC have done it again made a program for TV and bloody lied. New Zealand will not take anyone with a disability who will be a burden on their health care system, some bloody world of equality.

Well his week I'm looking to see if I can get into retraining something Labour has been spouting for a while now, I was turned down by the Job Center on the grounds of my age, straight out they said your to old and to be honest to disabled they quickly changed that saying your disability makes it difficult, well yes being disabled is difficult hence I'm not working.

So I get sent to another provider, I watched the place for twenty minutes having a cup of coffee it's empty, so I go in and notice a sign on the wall saying office staff needed training given, so I asked about the jobs.

Ah right the problem is our office is upstairs and we have no lifts or access sorry. This is from a government job provider training agency it has no access.

So I ask what about retraining I have this note from my job center, ah yes we need this for our record and to get payments for you.

Yes but I'm not sure your the one which can help us, yes but we will not give advice free, so I hand the note over and now this company becomes my provider for the year.

Ok what have you got to offer, ah nothing really we are looking around to get companies to work with us, but you have been here two years, yes but it takes time to work up a meaningful partnership.

Ok when do you think you might have a training regime in place, well perhaps sometime this year, and that's it.

They now get £190 for me joining and they said come back later on in the year.

This is Labour training program for the disabled and the unemployed little wonder nobody takes labour seriously anymore.

I've told the wife that's it's six years of doing everything I can to find work or to find training has seen me getting shafted from one stupid company to another and I've had it.

Well this blog is going to be short, I've been told not to attend a further interview until July 2009.

So I've joined another private group who told me they would find me work within weeks because they have the pulse of the nation and the nations wants the disabled in work not sponging off the state. Nice to know I'm sponging, but I'm not I worked for 28 years non stop and then had an accident so the insurance part of my National insurance stamp pays for me, it's not my fault in labour uses that money for something else.

Sadly this week another 300 people have been made redundant in my area making it, in two years 9480 people laid off .

But Labour now has a problem does it not if it cannot spend more money to put more people into v cowboy training programs they will soon have more people unemployed then Thatcher did.

It's Christmas most companies are looking for extra staff, what happened this year, Down I go to see if anyone wants a disabled person perhaps to smile and hand out Baskets, always a good one for cripples.

This year nothing, I did get one smell when again a charity wanted me to stand out side the shops rattle the tin asking please give, when they see my wheelchair their eyes light up, sadly they wanted me to do it for nothing this year saying they need to focus on the people they are helping, funny it's the disabled this time.

I then went down to the Job Center to see what they had, the security guard asked what do you want mate who do you want to see. I said any jobs going, he laughed and said of course your taking the pee, yes said I'm taking the pee alright.

I was then told that a job I had asked about within the Job Center had been given to a previous employee who needed no training.

Hell what chance have you got.

OK this is my first go at blogging being disabled like most things everything I

do is difficult, if it's not my legs and back which are hurting it's my hands and arms and fingers.

I worked in the building trade most of my life using power tools chipping hammers and many other things which shock me up a bit, I'm told I have white finger also that on a number of my fingers the joints are badly affected with wear and tear, so I've a habit of pressing two letters when typing so you end up with an extra letter in a word and the spell checkers thinks it's OK.

My disability is a lesion of the spine with serious nerve damage within the spinal cord and the nerves coming out from the bone within the back. Sadly on the day of my accident in 1991 I was left in the hospital for about three hours while they waited for an emergency, of course I was the emergency, then after an argument with a nurse about whether I had been drinking to much I found out the ambulance crew should have placed me in a neck brace and spinal board, but due to lack of training and a rush to get home they did not bother, telling the nurse my accident was due to drink and I had fallen over on the pavement, when in fact I had fallen about 45 feet.

Anyway the fact is now since my accident I've been looking for work, well before Labours New Deal for the disabled, or the Pathways to work or the Workfare.

I've used many of the Private charities and some private companies to find me work spending many hundreds of pounds in registration fee's, like Monsters so called employment agency, all that got me was hundreds of scams.

Then I went to the Shaw trust, I met them on a Tuesday they said not a problem bright bloke like me would be in work within weeks, I was given an address to go to each week to discuss what I wanted to do and how to go about it. what I needed to help me find work, all sounded really great. My first visit was good hello what type of jobs can you do , do you always use a wheelchair or is it for show, can you walk. I explained in nice terms I needed a wheelchair because my legs had been ravaged by MRSA and they had to cut out 45% of the muscles to save my life , the lady DEA which is Disability Employment Advisor said, oh I suspect your making that up a bit, so I showed her my legs, I never saw her again. The next time I went a young women asked are you the disabled bloke looking for work, I said yes, she said they left these for you. These were three jobs which they thought I could do and I kid you not, long distance lorry driver, driving taxi's, window cleaning, I just put these into the bin reason I cannot drive, and I cannot climb ladders. Then for the next eight weeks I went down and was told sorry they are not here, I phoned them up to be told the lady was on holiday, then she had finished, then she was sick, then finally the owners of the office stated they had left the site and had moved away.

I went onto the main office and tried to fill in the complaints section but it seems this does not work so I phoned then and wrote to them, obviously they are happy to get the governments £160 signing on fee but lack interest in the people they are supposed to help.

Then I was sent to the Remploy Interworks this is part of the Remploy group which is making money as an agency, this was a good move for me, it showed me how these companies use the youngest people so they can pay them the cheapest rate of the min wage.

MY disability advisor was nineteen straight out of school and told me I had a duty to work and they would ensure they carried out checks to make sure I was actually looking for work. I had to explain to her I did not need to do this as I was exempted from looking for work, she went out of the office at the Job center to check this information, coming back saying well I though you had to look for work.

SO I was asked what type of work I wanted to do, and I said I did not know what I could do or the type of work available to me, being in a wheelchair is difficult, let me explain if I work in a shop filling shelves well these shelves are higher then me. I was once asked if I wanted to be a helped packing peoples shopping but the counter was two foot about my head.

Then I was asked about doing voluntary work since it was obvious I could not be a carer, or taxi driver or long distance lorry driver, I was asked if I like to work in the British red cross, so I said ok then I'll try, it is supposed to get me ready for work, what happens the British red cross has three steps to get in and two more steps inside the shop, worse was to come when I was sent to work at age concern, I had to have five references one had to be from a religious person like a parson or priest one had to be from a Police officer and the others from well known people in the community being disabled the only people I know are my GP and nurse.

But over the past ten years I've done everything possible to find work asking to go on work experience to be told sorry nobody is doing that down here, then I was told your to old anyway, I asked about retraining and was told your to old, and that nobody would sign up to it. then I asked what about getting back into education and say retraining for a class room assistant, after a few minutes on the phone I was told if I paid for it my self yes that was ok but your to old, I was 47 at the time.

Remploy then left the area saying employers were not helping them and people just ignored the jobs they found them.

My last job offer from Remploy was medical Secretary to a consultant ten years experience and able to type to a good standard, I did not even bother going down and Remploy closed the office and moved away.

MY job center in July stated that I should not bother coming anymore until the new ESA regime was in place, and somebody else could have the hassle of finding work for the disabled I was told perhaps by then Labour would have some means of forcing employers to listen to them or us.

To date I've filled in 678 job applications and had four interviews, what will be the out come of the new medicals well my legs will not grow back so I'm always going to be disabled but my benefits will be cut to £60 a week perhaps labour will make begging legal again lets hope so.
